Einzug der Sieger auf dem Marktplatz in Leipzig am 19. Oktober 1813

Siegesfeier der Alliierten (Preussen, Russland, Österreich, Schweden und andere) über Napoleon Bonaparte am 19. Oktober 1813. An der Spitze der siegreichen Heerführer: Feldmarschall Karl Philipp Fürst Schwarzenberg.

In einer auf beiden Seiten verlustreichen Schlacht, an der sich über eine halbe Million Mann beteiligten und 120000 Soldaten verwundet wurden oder fielen, entschied sich Kaiser Napoleons Schicksal. Kurz darauf begann die Invasion Frankreichs und ein halbes Jahr später musste Napoleon abdanken und ging in die Verbannung nach Elba.

Dieses qualitätvolle Aquatinta in herausragendem Altkolorit zeigt die grosse Siegesfeier der Alliierten auf dem Markplatz in Leipzig. Der Künstler wird nicht genannt. Nur, dass er die Zeichnung während der Feier am 19. Oktober 1813 angefertigt hat. Das Aquatinta wurde bei Robert Bowyer in London gedruckt und ist 1816 datiert.

Leichte Alterstonung. Im Mittelfalz (im Himmel ca. 1 cm) ein quer-ovales Loch hinterlegt. Die Margen mit minimalen Alters- und Gebrauchsspuren. Äusserster linker Margenrand ohne den Plattenabdruck, dennoch breit. Die Farben exzellent. Der Druck makellos.
