"Vue du Théatre couvert à Pompy"
Aquatints engraved by Paul Fumagalli from 1821-1825
These prints with their velvety aquatint appearance were made to delight our hearts. They portrait, like no others, the elegance of architecture and the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of the ancient city - until the nearby Vesuvius put an end to it all in a devestating rain of volcanic ashes.
Page size: Ca. 32 x 48 cm (12.6 x 18.9 "). Image sizes given below.
Some prints are colored in very exquisite modern hand coloring.
Images are very clean. Minimal scattered foxing in margins and edges.
Prints are in very good condition unless otherwise noted.
