The scene shows the embarkment of Charles II, King of England, Scotland, and Ireland as he arrives with great pomp at the port for sailing from Schevneningen in the Netherlands back to England. A large crowd greeting him. The sky full of putti and, upper left side, coat of arms "Order of the Garter": Honi soit qui mal y pense. Shame on him who thinks evil of it.
