A beautifully original hand-colored copper-engraved map of Merseburg and the surrounding region of Saxony-Anhalt, published in Amsterdam by Petrus Schenk Jr. (1693–1775) and dated 1745.
The map depicts the southern part of present-day Saxony-Anhalt, including the course of the Saale River from Dalitz to Halle, as well as the surrounding countryside and the area around Leipzig. The detailed engraving shows numerous towns, roads, waterways, and other geographic features.
A baroque title cartouche appears in the lower left corner.
The vertical center fold has been partially reinforced from the verso at an earlier date.
