On October 3rd, 2021 I happened to take a trip to Silver City, Idaho
(https://goo.gl/maps/dcxa8UJccvU2pxWRA) and happened to take a photo of the grave in the second photo. There, in the middle of nowhere, rests William Lawry, a native of the small mining village of Sticker in south Cornwall, England, which is not far from the Providence Mine (depicted in the print for sale). Did he work there before embarking to America? For folks who have not been to this part of Idaho (Owyhee County), it is hard to explain how remote it is even today. The journey this young man took in the late 1800s, probably filled with hopes and dreams of a better life, deserves to be told. Where all had he been before arriving in Idaho? Was he able to appreciate how beautiful those mountains are? Did he ever get to see the prolific aspen trees in the fall? Did he ever taste Fred Grete's beer (Silver City brewer- Owyhee Brewery)? How did he die at DeLamar (adjacent mining area at Silver City)? etc etc.
