"Fontana E Castello Sul Monte Viminale
dell' Acqua della Colonna condotta da Sisto V.
Architeta. del Cau. Domenico Fontana."
Original antique print
Fountains of Rome Copper etchings designed and engraved by Gio. Francesco Venturini from: "Le Fontane Ne' Palazzi e Ne' Giardini di Roma, by Giovanni Battista Falda, 1691 Some of the Prnts are from a later edition. Looking at these pages of elegant fountains gives us the feeling of an enviable life-style in and around Rome. There is no other place on earth where the opulence of garden architecture becomes more apparent. A deep longing for Mediterranean class and beauty fills our hearts and makes us wish to be there. For those of us who are - unhappily - not citizens of the eternal city this glimpse provides some consolation. At least we may surround ourselves with these prints by using them for decoration of our homes, a veritable joy! Most of these prints bear a desirable patina of age. There is some miniscule, totally undisturbing spotting, browning along margin edges and a curious worm, who has visited the plates, has been so kind as to drill his path only in the lower margin, far away from platemark and image. The few exceptions will be mentioned, as will be any other minor damage. Otherwise the condition of these prints is VERY GOOD. |
Clean, strong image. Water spot on left margin edge and corners.
Minor spotting in margins. See worm track in margins.
