"Le Cheval de Mazeppa" Mazeppa was caught in a secret love afair with a noble woman. Her husband caught Mazeppa, a romantic hero, and had him tied to the back of an Arabian horse. There are several versions to the story based on Lord Byron's poem. A very artistic film was made in France titled "Mazeppa". Toned lithograph after Viktor Adam. Published 1884.
