Hallcarnassus in nowadays Bodrum in Turkey belonged to the First Persian Empie in Western Asia (Achaeminid Empire ca. 530 - 330 BC)
Mausolus reigned with the stays of a king from 377 - 353 BC
Anonymous copper etching, which served as model for the vue d'optique copper etching published by Probst in Augsburg.
There is a small ink remark: 1601, supposedly the date of printing of this copper etching. No other artist's or publisher's credits.
Wide margins. Margin edges with traces of age and use. General age toning. Very good impression. Image clean. Some wrinkling
and creases in margins. Reverse side has remnants of former mounting in a matting upper left and upper right corners.
