Rare copper engraving map from the atlas "Speculum orbis Terrae" by Gerard and Cornelius de Jode. Published 1593 in Atwerp. On the reverse side is a Latin text describing the area on the map. Gerard de Jode (1521-1591) was a Flemish cartographer who was living at the same time as Abraham Ortelius. There was a certain competition
between these two great mapmakers.

At the top of the map is Hall and Bellenburg. On the left is Gersleben, Aschersleben and Amsdorf.
In the lower left is Gersdorf, Suderode and Gernrode. In the upper right is Rosbach and Nallendorf.
In the lower right is Badra and Kirchengel. In the center is Eisleben and Neckerdorf.

The map was scanned against a black background that is not part of the map.
The hand coloring is beautiful.
The map image is in very good condition.
There are a few small faults on the margin edges. The text on the revere side is
clean with a few signs of age and use in margins.

A very fine and special map.

Map image: 33 x 24.5 cm (12.9 x 9.6")
