Maps, Africa, Western Mali, Bambouk, gold
"Charte von Bambus nach Kompagnons Zeichnung und mit dessen Reiseroute mit Zuziehung seiner und anderer Berichte entworfen"
Copper etching of the area of Bambouk (Western Mali). Pierre Compagnon arrived here in 1716 on this area where gold was aplenty. This map was designed according to his drawings with map material of other travelers added.
Published in Prague, dated 1811
Original antique print
The publication was probably in a German language travel book. Since the map was folded once vertically and once horizontally it may be assumed that it was bound in a small (duodez size) book.
General age toning. Minimal traces of age and use.
17,2 x 16,8 cm (ca. 6.7 x 6.6")
