"The Ceremony of a German Sacrifice" Copperplate etching by Cornelius Huyberts (ca. 1669-1712) Published in "War Commentaries on the Celts", by Julius Caesar by J.and R. Tonson. London, 1753 Huyberts did this engraving undated with a dedication to the Earl of Stafford about 1696/1700. It was named "Germanorum vetus Sacrificandi ritus".

Published in "War Commentaries on the Celts", by Julius Caesar

by J.and R. Tonson. London, 1753

Huyberts did this engraving undated with a dedication to the Earl of Stafford about 1696/1700. It was named "Germanorum vetus Sacrificandi ritus".

Tonson republished an illustrated English version of Caesar's "Commentaries" and used Huyberts' print, giving him credit "C. Huyberts F"

Light general age toning. Very light browning on centerfold. Small repair in lower margin on centerfold. Good condition.
