Wenzel Holler made his way from Prague to London and Frankfurt am Main. He spent two years learning from Matthäus Merian and finished a series of city and town views (probably ordered by Merian) in 1645.Only a few prints were published so that they are very seldom in the public and private collections.

SELTENE Kupferradierung von Wenzel Holler (1607-1677)

Wenzel Holler machte auf seinem Weg von Prag nach London in Frankfurt am Main Station. Zwei Jahre lang ging er bei Matthäus Merian in die Lehre (1627-29) und fertigte (wahrscheinlich im Auftrag Merians) während dieser Zeit auch eine Serie von Stadtansichten an, die Merian 1645 in Frankfurt am Main in kleiner Zahl publizierte. Diese Ansichten sind sehr selten und fehlen den meisten Sammlern und öffentlichen Sammlungen.  

Zustandsbeschreibung: Das Blatt hat leichte generelle und angenehme Alterspatina. Oben rechts, ausserhalb der Darstellung die Nr. 173 in Tintenschrift. (Schwalbe). Das Blatt ist sauber In der linken Marge, abseits der Darstellung, stockfleckig. . Insgesamt nahe sehr guter Erhaltungszustand.

The print has normal natural age patina. In the upper right corner is the number "173", written in old ink. Image is clean. Light browning
on left margin edge. Overall good condition.
