John Augustus Roebling's Suspension Bridge across the Niagara River.

Built between 1851and 1855 was the first suspension bridge for railway use. It was a two level bridge: Top: railway. Bottom roadway (and pedestrians). It connected, at 72 meters headway, the towns of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada with Niagara Falls, New York, USA. It was ca. 4 kilometers long and served international traffic until 1896, when it was replaced by Whirlpool Rapids Bridge. Another specialty was, that the railroad level had three different gauges of tracks, to allow use of the bridge for the three different Railroad companies with different gauges.
