These exquiste, original hand-colored lithographs are from "Album of Pomologie", published in
Antique Fruit Prints by Alexandre Bivort and Séraph Bavay.
Brussels, 1847-1850.
This work is truly a pomological rarity as there are only three complete copies known of this work. One belongs to the Royal Horticulutral Society and another to the Massachusetts Horticultural Society. A third was at an auction in 1987. It is a wonderful record of new fruits raised at the time in Belgium. The artists and lithographers of these fine plates are not known. Although mainly a book on apples, other fruits which are depicted.
The prints have wide margins. The original hand coloring is especially fine. The actual colors are more beautiful than shown.

All prints have light age toning and a few very minor spots. Individual defects, if any, are noted below.
