Henri Louis Duhamel du Monceau: Traité des arbres fruitiers.

We are proud and happy to be able to offer you some of the finest of fruit prints ever produced. Pierre Antoine Poiteau and Pierre Jean Francois Turpin belong to the extraordinary artists, active in 19th century France, enjoying us with a multitude of botanically correct as well as highly decorative renderings of fruit prints. The superb quality they achieved was their relentlessly executed exactness, their artistic abilities and the unsurpassed technique of using the stipple engraving method of etching a copper plate along with the enormous effect they achieved to the eye with color-printing (by Langlois, famous French color-printer who supervised much of Redouté's work) rather than hand-coloring which had been necessary in preceding times when applying color to a print. Each of the prints has a bit of hand-colored finishing. Just have a look to marvel at the shiny beauties which were the outcome of their masterful efforts: Some scholars think and clearly state this to be the finest work on fruit ever published. Paris, 1807 - 1835
