"t Vermaarde Park van Anguien - Le Fameux Parc d'Anguien".

Copperplate etching by Frederic de Wit. Amsterdam. Ca. 1650. Published in "European Palaces and Castles"

The famous Park of Enghien (in the Wallonian province of Henaut) dates back to the 15th century, when Pierre de Luxembourg transformed the forests ajacent to his chateau into a park. Two hundred years later, in the year 1607, chateau and parc were sold by the then owner Henry IV of France to a noble family by the name of Arenberg. These transformed the park into one of the most beautiful parks of Europe. This large folio size view of the parc gives an impression of it in the middle of the 17th century.
