Historical Map
The island of Sardinia in a side map. Main map: The extension of the "Kingdom of Sardinia" on the main land in Italy.
After having been, for centuries, a Vice-Kingdom of Spain, the island of Sardinia came into the possession of the Duke of Savoy in 1720, who assumed the higher ranking title of "King". Center of this kingdom was Turin in Peimont. Out of this resulted in 1861, the Kingdom of Italy.
