"Le Lion D'Androcles" Image of Androcles, the slave in Roman times who was saved by a lion. Androcles found the lion in the forest with a wounded paw. He took out the thorn and soothed the lion. Androcles later was put before the lions in the Colosseum. The lion that was supposed to kill Androcles is the one Androcles saved. Androcles and the lion march out of the Colosseum in peace together. Toned lithograph after Viktor Adam. published 1884.
