The so-called "Tafelrunde" of Prussian King Friedrich II in the chateau "Sanssocous" in the year 1750.

Mezzotint of the highest quality by F. Werner after the painting by Adolf von Menzel (1815 - 1905). Berlin, 1850

Host is King Friedrich II. (facing center and turning to his most distinguished guest: Voltaire, who is engaging in a conversation across the table with Count Algarotti. Between Friedrich and Voltaire: General Christoph Ludwig von Stille. On the far left: Lord Marshall George Keith. On the King's right: Jean-Baptiste de Boyer Marquis d'Argens. Next to him to the right: Count Francesco Algarotti, Field Marshall James Keith, Count Friedrich von Rothenburg and Julien Offray de La Mettrie. The only unidentified person is facing away of the beholder on the left side.

Menzel's painting was destroyed by fire in 1945.

Light age toning. Minor foxing spots in margins. Lower left corner has small round colliector's dry stamp. Otherwise very good condition.
